Corporate Design – what do we mean? The way you present your business image. It embraces your business name, your type style, your logo, and the look and feel of your stationery – your letters, business cards, client communications and brochures. It feeds into your web design though that’s a whole separate subject. And does it all matter?
Well, we think it does. You may have an exceptional quality of advice and service but your image may not be saying the same thing. Your image and brand is your promise to your clients.
It’s not the most important thing of course that has to be the quality of advice and service you offer your clients. But nor can Corporate Design be relegated to a last minute trip to speedy print – no offence speedy print!
How to go about it?
It’s a matter of thinking through how you want to be seen and thought of by your clients, future clients, and team members and include yourself in that. What kind of image do you want to create? This is a matter of thinking thorough a few key words. Is the main thing to create a professional image? Or a friendly face? Or are we after bespoke discretion? Or is it about attracting a particular market- women, say or small businesses? Or you might want to emphasise locality and appeal to a particular community? In other words it’s a matter of agreeing the right objectives.
And on a personal level here’s a question to ask yourself. When you look at your business card do you do so with:
(a) Pride
(b) Indifference
(c) I try not to look at them
The thing is, it may not cost any more to make sure your answer is a resounding (a) and even more important, the next question is how do you think your clients or prospective clients would answer?
