Regulator wanted. Must have thick skin

The Pension Regulator wants a chief executive with a thick skin – or in other words this person must be prepared to be hauled over the coals by MPs as happened to the previous incumbent Lesley Titcomb. Quite a few people think she was treated rather unfairly. It is a tough job and one that can only get more difficult as TPR gets more powerful.

Platforms set for inducement rules shake up

White-labelling, training and bulk rebalancing tools offered to advisers by providers look set to be caught by inducement rules, the FCA has said in its platform interim study, reports New Model Adviser. The regulator is also likely to scrutinise IFA equity stakes in the platforms they used.

FCA says banning UCIS from Sipps would be disproportionate

The FCA has told MPs that a ban on unregulated property investments in Sipps would be disproportionate. It would be very interesting to poll IFAs on the issue because some advisers feel very strongly that this would be an intervention too far. Others are tired of helping clients try and get some money back from deals that have gone wrong and there is always the matter of the FSCS bills.

Advisers upset as cold calling ban put on hold till the autumn
